This is one of those books that I did not want to like but did. As I was reading it, I wanted to put it down on account of it being too “vulgar”. I have to admit, though, that Junot Diaz has the ability to take different subjects and approach them with the kind of raw honesty that is poetic and refreshing. These stories are written with an ease to them so that one flows into the next and before you know it, you’ve devoured the entire book and left wanting to read more of it. It’s a short book and a very easy read- I enjoyed it on my subway rides to and from work.
